Fishing tactics can change like seasons on most bodies of water. One day the bite may be incredible and the next, the fish have completely changed where they are and what they are chasing. Only careful anglers with attention to detail adapt to these changes, and one of the best tools to help you do the same is the FishAngler catch log.

Fishing journals have been an important tool to fisherman for as long as the sport has existed, and help anglers consistently catch fish despite varying conditions. The FishAngler catch log merely takes the classic concept and makes it available on your mobile device. By logging your catch information, you start a personal encyclopedia of the dates, conditions, baits and tactics that worked each day, weather patterns and water conditions.

So, when the weather shifts dramatically, a new fly begins to hatch, or the bite suddenly stops; you will have over 45 attributes of reference to help you catch more fish than before.

How to Start

When you land that monster brown, or boat that 10 pound bass be sure to get a quick picture of the fish. Always practice safe handling techniques when doing so like keeping the fish in a horizontal position and in the water as long as possible.

Add your photo to the FishAngler App by tapping the + symbol at the bottom center of your screen. Select a photo of your fish, the one that makes it look the biggest of course. You will then be prompted with a full screen Google Map of where you landed that bohemoeth. Next, either tap on the exact position you made the catch, search for the area in the search bar (in case the photo was taken somewhere else like a boat ramp, or  yard) or for the cautious angler  keep the location private by tapping private in the bottom.

Where’d You Catch It?

Once you confirm the location of your catch, fill out the name of the body of water. Likewise, you can add whether the access is private or public. Be sure and add additional notes about the lake, pond, river, or creek all to help FishAngler provide the most accurate water data in the world.

The Species

Now a list of common species found in the region will be provided. Select the proper species and continue.

Personal Notes

After you hammer out the nuts and bolts of the catch, it’s just as important to reflect on what the catch and day meant to you. This is your chance to release your inner Norman Maclean, or Jim Harrison. You may certainly look back on this day and find you learned a lot more than just how to catch more fish.
