The tackle box is one of the most important tools in an angler’s arsenal. Through organization we keep track of our necessary pieces of gear and our favorite lures, baits, or flies. FishAngler’s digital tackle box is just as useful and may be better at organizing your most successful lures.
The best uses for the FishAngler tackle box could very well change your organization patterns. It can also keep you from digging around for that perfect lure at the height of fishing activity.
Load your Favorite Gear
You can find all your favorite rods, reels, lures and more in the gear section. The FishAngler gear database now contains over 100,000 new pieces of fishing gear from all your favorite brands. Finding specific gear down to the brand helps keep proper logs of your catches down to the swivel brand.
To add your favorite gear into your virtual tackle box:
- Tap “More” at the bottom right corner.
- Then “My Gear” .
- Tap “Add Gear” .
- Select the type of gear you want to add, be it a rod, reel, lure, line etc.
- Tap the brand of the piece of gear.
- Then the model of your piece of gear then the exact piece if needed.
Once your favorite gear is added into your personal tackle box, add each piece of your setup into the details. Those details will create a detailed log of how you caught that fish of a lifetime.
Get Organized
I was just on a fishing trip with my dad, when he handed me two plastic boxes full of swivels, hooks, jigs and other lures. Some of the gear had jumped its separated square and as I dug through the tackle, my dad tried to remember the perfect salmon setup that worked in this fishing hole in years passed.
While FishAngler’s Tackle Box can’t physically keep your gear organized, (that one is on you dad!) you can keep track of the exact bait, swivel and weight combo you had on the line on that perfect day.
Simply go to the FishAngler app, tap the “More” option, then tap “My Gear.” From here you can separate your favorite baits between artificial lures, live bait, flies and more.
An Extension of the Logbook
Your logbook is an invaluable tool when it comes to recording and remembering specific catches. Your tackle box can be an extension of that log. You can even leave a photo of your favorite lure with information regarding the make, model and color of your favorites and how and when they work.
Your tackle box will be a permanent record of each of your lures, baits and flies, and the specific times and situations each one is effective. This provides even more detailed information for you to learn from.
When you combine the detailed information about each lure, bait, or fly, with the detailed information from each of your successful catches, your fishing knowledge is bound to skyrocket.
Don’t see it? Add it!
Let’s face it, sometimes the best baits don’t come from a store. Anglers are becoming more creative with making their own lures, flies and bait setups. If you’re a “DIY” kind of angler, then you can add your own patterns to the list by adding a photo and information regarding the bait.
Try adding your own patterns in and putting in notes as to how they work out the first time you use them. Don’t forget important details like the weather, the time of day, the type of water and how much interest from the fish it got. Then you will have a permanent record to go back to, regarding the bait and its best applications and uses.
Learn From Others
The tackle box isn’t just for your own records, either. When you see someone on your feed reeling in fish left and right, don’t be afraid to check on their profile and search their gear section. Users don’t have to make their gear section available to the public, but if they do you can learn a lot about what baits and lures are working in their neck of the woods. You can also check on other gear they’re using from rods and reels, to line and leader, all the way to boat motors, and sunglasses.
The Gear Section can also be the place to check when you’re in the market for new gear.
Been thinking of getting a new depth finder? Start checking your peers’ tackle box to find popular brands and models.
Make sure and take advantage of your FishAngler tackle box all year long to stay organized and learn more about your best baits and their effectiveness. Also, be sure to post photos of your favorite baits and tackle on the FishAngler feed with #mytacklebox to share your success with anglers around the world.
