The fish were always biting yesterday. But with FishAngler’s Forecast, that changes today. This guide walks you through every section of the Daily Forecast — from solunar feeding windows and barometric pressure to tides, wind, and moon data. You’ll learn what each feature means, why it matters, and exactly how to use it to put more fish in the boat. Whether you fish fresh or salt water, this is your starting point for smarter trips.

How to Open the Forecast

Getting to the forecast is simple. Here’s how:
1. Tap the Forecast icon at the bottom of the app screen.
2. Swipe left or right to scroll through hourly or daily conditions.
3. Tap any hour or day for a deeper look at conditions.

Alternatively, you can open the forecast directly from a specific location. Just tap any Water Detail, Access Point, Underwater Structure, or Buoy on the map. Then tap the Forecast option within that detail view. From there, swipe through conditions tailored to that exact spot.

  • Free members get a 7-day forecast outlook.
  • VIP Members unlock a full 14-day forecast for deeper trip planning.

The Daily & Hourly View

When you first open the Forecast, you’ll land on a clean, scrollable view of upcoming conditions. This is brand new in the latest update. Gone is the old summary-to-detail layout. Instead, you now get everything at a glance — daily and hourly conditions in one smooth, swipeable screen.

Tap any day to expand the hourly breakdown for that date. Tap any hour to dig into the specific conditions at that time. It’s designed to be fast and intuitive, so you spend less time navigating and more time planning.

Fish Forecast (Solunar)

Not all hours of the day are equal when it comes to fishing. The Fish Forecast uses the Solunar Theory to show you when fish are most likely to be active.
The idea is straightforward. Fish behavior is influenced by the moon’s position and phase. So the app combines moon phase score, moon distance score, and solunar coincidence score to calculate peak feeding windows throughout the day.

On your screen, these windows appear as green spikes on a chart. Typically, you’ll see four peaks per day — two major and two minor. The times of these windows are shown at the top of the chart for quick reference.

Pro Tip: The monthly calendar view uses a 1–4 fish icon rating. One fish means low activity. Four fish means peak conditions. Plan your biggest trips around those four-fish days.

⭐ VIP Members get access to FishForecast™ — FishAngler’s proprietary forecasting layer. It builds on the solunar data with even sharper, more accurate feeding window predictions tailored to your specific water.

Weather Forecast

The Weather Forecast section gives you a full picture of what Mother Nature has planned. This is especially useful for beginners, since conditions like temperature swings and incoming storms can dramatically affect fish behavior.

The temperature is displayed as an hourly line chart, showing you the highs and lows throughout the day. Other conditions — like humidity, UV index, and precipitation chance — are shown above the chart for quick reading.

Freshwater Anglers will see:
∙ Air temperature (hourly chart)
∙ Precipitation and snow accumulation
∙ Humidity and UV index
∙ Wind direction and speed

Saltwater Anglers get all of the above, plus:
∙ Wind gusts
∙ Sea surface temperature
∙ Wave direction and height
∙ Swell direction, height, and period
∙ Current direction and speed
∙ Full tide chart with MLLW elevation for every high and low cycle

Barometric Pressure

Barometric pressure is one of the most overlooked tools for beginner anglers — but it’s one of the most powerful. Here’s why it matters.

Fish have a swim bladder that is sensitive to changes in atmospheric pressure. When pressure drops, fish tend to dive deeper and feed less. When pressure rises, they become more active and feed closer to the surface. So tracking pressure patterns can help you predict when the bite will turn on.

In the app, pressure is displayed as a line graph showing rises and falls throughout the day. The measurements appear in inHg (inches of mercury). But don’t worry about the numbers too much. Simply focus on whether the line is rising or falling — that’s what counts.

Wind Forecast

Wind affects every kind of fishing. For freshwater anglers, it can push baitfish to one side of the lake and concentrate feeding fish along windy banks. For saltwater anglers, it can determine whether it’s safe to leave the dock at all.

The Wind Forecast displays a bar graph with hourly wind speed and direction. Gust speeds are also shown at the top of the chart. Use this to plan your casting angles, pick sheltered coves, or decide whether to run offshore.

Wave Forecast (Saltwater)

If you’re an offshore or coastal angler, wave conditions can make or break your day. The Wave Forecast gives you swell size, direction, and frequency — all displayed as an easy-to-read bar graph.

Use this section to decide whether conditions are safe and comfortable for your boat. Bigger swells don’t always mean a bad day — but knowing what’s coming means you can prepare for it.

Tide Forecast (Saltwater)

Tides influence where fish are, how they feed, and when they’re most active near structure. The Tide Forecast gives you everything you need to plan around tidal movement.

Here’s what’s included:

∙ Tide height and MLLW elevation
∙ Time of next tide
∙ Previous tide reference
∙ All high and low tides for the day

The data is displayed as a smooth line graph showing the rise and fall throughout the day. Tap a specific tide marker for exact timing and height details.

Sun Forecast

Knowing when the sun rises and sets isn’t just about packing enough sunscreen. Light levels directly affect fish behavior — particularly in shallow water. Low-light periods around dawn and dusk are often the most productive times to fish.

The Sun Forecast gives you:

∙ Civil dawn and dusk
∙ Sunrise and sunset times
∙ Nautical and astronomical twilight
∙ Total daylight hours
∙ High noon time

Use this alongside the Fish Forecast to double up on your peak windows. An early morning solunar spike that lines up with civil dawn? That’s a window worth setting your alarm for.

Moon Forecast

The moon plays a bigger role in fishing than most beginners realize. Moon phase, position, and distance all influence fish feeding behavior — especially for species like bass, redfish, and tarpon.

The Moon Forecast provides:

∙ Moon phase and illumination percentage
∙ Moonrise and moonset times
∙ Moon overhead and underfoot times
∙ Moon distance from Earth
∙ Moon age
∙ Next new moon, previous full moon, and next full moon

Together with the Fish Forecast, this section helps you understand why certain windows are rated higher than others.

Water Level (Freshwater — Gauge Locations)

For river and stream anglers, water level can change everything. Rising water after rain pushes fish into new areas. Falling water concentrates them in deeper pools.

The Water Level screen is available when you select a Gauge location at the top of the Forecast menu. It’s accessible for select streams, rivers, and other bodies of water.

The screen shows hour-by-hour predictions over a 24-hour period, displayed as a line graph. It accounts for recent precipitation as well as anticipated rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Water Flow (Freshwater — Gauge Locations)

Similar to Water Level, Water Flow is accessed by selecting a Gauge location. It measures the volume of water moving past a specific point in a stream at any given time.

Flow is recorded in cubic feet per second (CFS) or cubic meters per second (CMS). High flow can make wading difficult and alter fish positioning. Low flow can concentrate fish in fewer, deeper spots.

A number of factors influence flow — including precipitation, season, stream shape, and local groundwater. Use this data alongside water level to get the full picture before heading to a river or stream.

You’re Ready to Fish Smarter

That’s every section of FishAngler’s Daily Forecast, from top to bottom. Each data point exists for a reason — and together, they give you a complete picture of what’s happening on and around the water before you ever leave home.

Start with the Fish Forecast to find your best windows. Then layer in weather, pressure, tides, and moon data to sharpen your plan. The more you use it, the more natural it becomes.
