Our users are logging more and more catches every single day. As the FishAngler userbase grows so does the amount of fishing information available to each user. Using user suggestions and insights, we are streamlining the process when you log a catch. We are happy to announce uploading your catch just got easier! And so, too, does your access up-to-date location information.
Catch Date & Time
This new system will log weather conditions for you based on the date, time and location of your post photo. This does not need to be manually added, as photos taken on your phone include this information. All you need to do is confirm that the information provided is accurate and the weather conditions are supplied for you.
Select Catch Position
We have also put a higher emphasis on the correct names of bodies of water and catch locations. After you select your catch photo and confirm the date, you will be prompted with a map to identify where you landed your catch.
Here you can:
- Select the exact position you caught it.
- Search for the area in the search bar at the top of the screen in case you are logging your catch later at the boat ramp, or your yard.
- Or, you can keep the location private by selecting “Private” next to Exact Location at the bottom of the screen.
Bodies of Water
If the app does not recognize the body of water, you will be prompted to submit a missing body of water report. You can also add whether the access is private or public and add any additional notes about the lake, pond, river, or creek. This information helps FishAngler provide the most accurate data to users around the world.
Select Fish Species
For the next step, we have updated our species selection process by providing you a list of common species found in the region you caught your fish. You will be provided a list of the top species in your area to scroll through and select from. However, if you do not see the species you are looking for, you can search for it at the top of the screen.
Add Measurements
What trophy catch is complete without stats? The next step is a simple page where you can add the weight and length of your catch. Don’t know the size? No problem! You can skip this step by simply tapping “Next”.
Select Gear Used
Tackle is an important part of every catch. We spend our hard-earned money on lures, bait and line that will get the job done! It is an important factor to remember when posting your catch.
On this page you can:
- Add items you already have in your gear catalog.
- Search from our database of hooks, line, lures and much more.
- Or, you can add your own custom gear and photos for each catch.
Log what gear you used with your catches to keep a detailed logbook, reminding you how exactly you found success on the water that day. In a rush to get likes on your catch? No problem, this step can also be skipped!
Add Catch Details
Before you share your latest catch with the world, add a description to your catch and verify previous information provided is correct. If you feel like recording more data surrounding your catch, you can also tap the “Advanced Pro Stats” option with a red diamond next to it. This option allows you to add an incredible amount of additional detail. The details range from water clarity and moon phases, to your retrieval speed, fight time and the status of the fish after it was landed. After your catch information is confirmed, tap “Next”.
